5 Questions for Martin Ott
What particularly appealed to you about the role of Sales Manager at Andreas Daub?
The current economic climate is placing great demands on us all. It is precisely at times like these that you need an experienced sales team and a well-established manufacturer behind you.
At Andreas Daub, production has always taken place at the company’s headquarters in Pforzheim, where the team works hard every day to deliver high-quality workmanship. This solid foundation and the family-run ethos won me over straight away.
The human element was the deciding factor. I simply clicked with Mr Daub and the whole team right from the start.
What areas would you like to prioritise in sales over the coming months?
In the short term, there are three things we will be tackling together as a team. We want to be able to respond more quickly and flexibly to enquiries and orders, and also to reach out to our customers proactively.
Secondly, we want to further build on our great strength in developing models in line with our partners’ ideas. Finally, we want to streamline several internal processes through digitalisation using AI.
What particularly pleased you during your first few weeks, or how would you describe your first few weeks working with Andreas Daub?
It is simply impressive to see the level of expertise and experience gathered under one roof. This knowledge is not merely managed, but put into practice every day. People who can be proud of their work – and quite rightly so! CAD design, toolmaking, sheet metal working, goldsmithing, surface finishing, to name but a few. We have an outstanding foundation on which to continue playing an active role in this industry for the next 150 years.
What do you consider particularly important when working with our customers?
It’s important to me that I don’t make any promises we can’t keep – I’ve always been a genuine person, both in my private life and at work. Daub isn’t just a supplier; we’re an integral part of our clients’ teams. It’s all about helping our partners to delight their own customers. That’s the only way we can build an honest, trusting foundation for a long-term partnership.
What opportunities and objectives do you see for our sales and customer relations in the coming years?
This week I received a new newsletter from the BVSU. The figures speak for themselves: German jewellery exports have risen by double figures compared with last year.
Demand in Germany is therefore lagging slightly behind, but experience shows that it will catch up in the future. In the long term, I still see us as a strong supplier. We embody the ‘Made in Germany’ ethos, hold RJC certifications and offer a partnership on equal terms. That is worth more than just the lowest price.
